Beauty Killer Goes a Little More Gothy

Kevinn Draconia of Beauty Killer recently went on a remodeling binge.  And he remodeled not only his store, but also his wares.  Beauty Killer, which previously was known primarily for punk attire, especially those with a hot pink tone (kind of like Barbie on crack) has gone goth.  His inaugural goth outfit is a *huge* gothic gown with a battleship skirt, cobwebs, and spiders, called Haunted.  Kevinn’s prices have never been exorbitant, but recently he had a sale, so I grabbed Haunted.  Take a look.

I don’t think Kevinn had ever done a gown before, so I am quite impressed with his first effort.  The prim work is really well done, and the little sculpted spiders are too cute.  Haunted comes with a corset top and a shrug-type jacket.  Here I’m wearing just the corset bodice.  Long, black fabric, ornamented with a little spider flows from the arm bands.  Here’s another set of pics showing the jacket.

I love the crown, don’t you?  That’s not part of the Haunted outfit, but it’s free in Beauty Killer’s Midnight Mania board right now.  Get a good look at that corset, by the way.  The lacings, eyelets, bow, and fabric are made well enough to withstand close scrutiny.  Bravo, Kevinn!  Now, if you notice the seam at the jacket/pants line, that is probably my fault for not wearing the panty layer.  I also could have/should have raised the skirt to hide the seam line.  In any case, don’t be so damned picky that you let that bother you.  This is a lovely gothic gown.

Just a day or so ago, Beauty Killer released another new outfit, Emilie, an homage to the much-admired Emilie Autumn.  The signature piece of this outfit is the sculpted corset with lacings on the back.  I am quite impressed with it.  Click the pic to get a good view of those lacings, ‘k?

With an Emilie Autumn inspired outfit, I was expecting a burlesque style skirt, but these hotpants are awfully cute.  The mismatched striped stockings and the patchwork heart are two elements of Ms. Autumn’s signature style that Kevinn has captured well.  The collar and fingerless gloves also come with the outfit.  The shoes are from PinkMare’s House – these aren’t sold separately but are part of the Pretend Bride outfit.  The hair is from Magika, which I blogged with the Pacific Crisis Fundraiser and Help Japan items earlier this week.  Of course the skin is Mynerva’s new Kia.
So, if you’ve never been to Beauty Killer or haven’t been in awhile, you owe it to yourself to wander over for a visit.  The build is nice and gothy and there are several lucky boards with older items, one with past hunt gifts.  Maybe I’ll see you there.

Mynerva’s New Kia Skins

As I teased a bit yesterday, Mynerva has released a base makeup of the recent group gift skins in 8 tones.  These skins are not completely bare, but are designed with the idea that you’ll add your own tattoo layer makeups.  Rhapzody will be making some makeups for them, but for the moment, you’re on your own.  If you’re like me, you probably have plenty of tattoo layer makeups.  Isn’t it fun trying those on different base skins?  I love doing that!  I also have a tip or two about where you can get some free or dollarbie tattoo makeups that look great on the Mynerva skins.  But first, let’s take a look at the skins in the lightest tone.

I really love these skins for the face, and to be honest, I barely look at my avatar’s skins past the cleavage.  But the shading on the body of Kia is very pretty.  Each tone comes with several bosom options – A cup, B cup, etc., and a full cleavage option;  you also get the option of brows or no brows.  This gives Rhapzody the ability to add different brow options on the tattoo layer.  Remember, these are meant to be a base skin for you to add layers to.  I can’t wait until Phoenix supports multiple tattoo layers.  Ok, here are all 8 tones of Kia.

The tones are numbered from lightest to darkest.  My favorite is actually Tone 2 because it has a rosy hue to it.  In each pic above, I’m wearing the options with brows and full cleavage.  Ok, how about some makeup?

The top four makeups are all from Mynerva.  Rhapzody had made them for another one of her skins, but I think they look just perfect with Kia.  The top two (left to right) makeups are Mynerva’s Dusk and Mynerva’s Smoky Onyx with Mid Eyeliner.  The middle two are Mynerva’s Raven Smoke with Eyeliner, and Mynerva’s Raven Smoke with Double Wing Eyeliner.  The bottom two are from Mock Cosmetics – Mock’s Violet Bright Lights and Mock’s Champagne Foiled.  Conveniently, Mocksoup Grave’s makeups are now located in a wing of Mynerva’s main store.  Better yet, these two makeups are both either free or a dollar right now.  You don’t even need to join a group.  There’s also a cosmetics bag for L$1 that you can wear, plus it holds a few more makeups.  Just for fun, I tried on some other tattoo layer makeups to see how they’d fit with my new favorite skin.  I had several from Kyoot and from Amacci.  Let’s see how those look on Kia.

The top two are Amacci’s Divine Silver and Divine Gray eye makeups.  The bottom left is Amacci’s Divine Turquoise, and the bottom right is Kyoot’s Feline Soft Brown.  Aren’t they cute?  I can’t wait until Rhapzody makes some makeups for them, especially coz I love how she does lipstick, but for now, these’ll do nicely.

Curious Kitties is having a little Spring Festival at the store.  There are several freebies that you can grab, such as cute pink cherry blossom chokers, a fishnet top and stockings, and if you’re in the group a cute fatpack of tops and pants (not part of the Spring Festival, but still nice).  I’m not going to show you the freebies today, though.  I’m going to show you the limited edition dress and boots that Ameshin has done for the Festival.  You know how much I love straps.  And you may also know that I think Curious Kitties makes some of the (if not *the*) best sculpted straps outfits on the grid.  So, when I saw the limited edition Plaid Angst Dress in the Sakura motif, I just had to have it.  Check out this strappy awesomeness.

Click to make it larger, please, so you can see all the yummy details.  The boots are also a limited edition pair that complement the dress.  They’re adorned with cherry branches and blossoms, as is the collar of the dress.  The underskirt and undershirt and pants (the system layer top and bottoms) also feature the pink and white cherry blossom motif.  All of that is encased in just about the best sculpted strapped-and-buckled bodice and skirt you’ll find in SL.

I am also wearing a brand new hair from Dura – this is the Game1 style in black.  It’s a very anime type hair, which I love.  Dura released three new styles recently and I had to grab every one of them in black coz Dura is just full of awesomeness these days.  The skin – I’m so freaking excited about the skin that I’m going to do a whole post on them.  You know those awesome group gift skins that Mynerva put out recently?  You know, the ones I keep wearing in like every post?  Well,  due to popular demand, she has released a full range of that base skin in several tones.  I’m soooo happy!  So, I’ll be doing a skins post very very soon.  But, until then…
